Positive Impact, Every Day
Over the past months, we have actively engaged with the Horse Whispering Youth Program, Domestic Violence Prevention Centre, Rosies Friends on the Street, Australian Red Cross Lifeblood, Vinnies CEO Sleepout, Envirobank and key pledge partner, Bravehearts. Joining Hands with Friends with Dignity
Gifts for Friends
This holiday season – SAA is proud to join hands with Friends with Dignity, in supporting adults and children impacted by Domestic Violence.
In collaboration with refuge and crisis centres, Friends with Dignity is a national, volunteer based, not-for-profit registered charity, which provides tangible resources, practical programs and scholarships to enhance the personal safety of individuals – regardless of race, ethnicity, gender or sexuality.
Between November 7 and December 14, SAA is excited to be counted amongst Santa’s helpers – in supporting Friends with Dignity and its Gifts for Friends Christmas Collection Drive.
SAA sponsors PNG classroom
Project Yumi Schoolroom Success
A little over a year ago, Superannuation Advice Australia joined hands with Project Yumi, an Australian registered charity working towards building effective partnerships with local communities in Papua New Guinea.
We found a natural fit with Project Yumi in supporting its focus on saving resources from Australian landfills, while simultaneously improving education and healthcare for those living in PNG. Through our award-winning SAA Workplace Giving Program, we raised $4,000 to sponsor a classroom in Morobe Province, as a part of the NGO’s Project Skul Initiative.

In support of the Children's Medical Research Institute
Jeans for Genes Day 2022
“Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.”
Last week, in support of the Children’s Medical Research Institute, our offices were a sea of blue – raising much needed funds for Jeans for Genes Day!
By wearing jeans and digging deep into our denim pockets, we were able to raise a phenomenal $1,325, which was DOUBLED to $2,650. Thanks to the support of a very generous benefactor, all donations received on 8 August, were matched – up to $200,000.
Time and time again – we see how our SAA Workplace Giving Program is at the very heart of our business. Flowing through our Vision, Mission and Values, it brings our unique culture to life and makes so many positive things possible. Like helping to fund vital medical research, treatments and cures for the one in twenty Australian children who are born with a birth defect, life-threatening metabolic disorder or genetic disease – such as cancer or cystic fibrosis.
International Day of Yoga 2022
SAA Strikes a Pose
Last month, SAA staff members headed outdoors to watch the sun rise, and observe International Day of Yoga!
Yoga cultivates health and wellbeing (physical, emotional, mental and social) through the regular practice of a range of many different techniques. Pilates Instructor and Functional Movement Specialist, Claudia de Villiers, hosted two personalised SAA Yogalates classes – covering a range of stretching and breathing exercises.
Balance is not something you find, but something you create. With this in mind, we aim to work towards creating balance and harmony both within ourselves, and each other, every day of the year.

Earth Day 2022
Investing In Our Planet
SAA is celebrating Earth Day 2022 and its theme: Invest in Our Planet! And what better way than to shine a solar-powered spotlight on: Pixii.
Australia’s most eco-friendly period products, Pixii exists to deliver equality, charity and sustainability. We agree with Pixii that the hygiene needs of girls and women are a necessity, not a luxury, so we’ve partnered with Pixii to provide complimentary tampons and pads in our bathrooms. We applaud that 50% of Pixii’s profits are donated towards empowering women. And lastly – did you know that your choice of period products can have an environmental impact of up-to 500 years?
Pixii products are completely plastic-free, 100% organic cotton, free from bleach, dye and chemicals, biodegradable (in less than 5 years), made with 100% renewable hydroelectricity and shipped via carbon-neutral biofuel.
We are proud supporters of Pixii and encourage businesses, schools and other public venues to adopt Australia’s most eco-friendly period products that are good for people, good for business and schools, and most importantly – good for the earth.

Super Shavers!
World's Greatest Shave
The Leukaemia Foundation salutes SAA and its Goal Smashing SUPER SHAVERS! We are so immensely proud of our SAA Workplace Shaving Team, as well as all of our staff members – for supporting this year’s World’s Greatest Shave! With the addition of a very generous company donation – the original fundraising goal of $3,000 was doubled, raising $6000 to help Aussie families beat blood cancer. It is an honour and a privilege to be a part of this phenomenal initiative, and we extend our thanks to Stewart, from Oasis Barber – for shearing and overseeing all of the SAA shaving festivities…
#StepUptoCleanUp
Clean Up Australia Day
Last month, Superannuation Advice Australia Stepped Up (and out into the community) and organised two Clean Up Australia Day events. Young SAA family members were enlisted and great fun was had by all through collecting, counting and completing our detailed rubbish reports. These events remind us of the importance of building moments of connection and how powerful an impact, we can generate within our immediate environment.

Bake Sale
World Thinking Day Fundraiser
Celebrated annually since 1926 by Girl Scouts and Girl Guides across 150 countries, Superannuation Advice Australia celebrated this year’s WTD theme: Our World, Our Equal Future – with a Cause Bake Sale. Our BEST-of-the-BEST Bakers produced an amazing spread of savoury and sweet biscuits, cookies, slices, balls, puffs and scrolls. Hundreds of dollars were raised as we continue our commitment to build better futures and empower girls to become environmentally conscious leaders of today, ready for tomorrow.
All proceeds from our fundraiser will be donated towards the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) Leadership Model, which enables girls to build a foundation of leadership practice, confidence and life skills through an individual learning journey.
#IWD2022
International Women's Day
8 March is International Women’s Day (IWD) – a global day for celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. However, the day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.
As a business, we are committed to building better futures where difference is valued and recognised. A diverse, equitable and inclusive future – free of bias, stereotypes and prejudice. We are shining a light on women’s achievements, discussing emerging women’s empowerment and gender inequality, while rejecting discrimination.
We’re building a workforce where women thrive.
It's a dog's life
AWLQ Paws+Connect Visit the SAA Office!
The Animal Welfare League Queensland (AWLQ) recently visited our offices for some much needed Puppy Playtime! The Paws + Connect internal fundraiser was hosted to assist the AWLQ continue to create brighter futures for animals in need, while sharing some powerful puppy magic amongst SAA staff members.
Many studies have confirmed that dogs can improve our mental health. Fulfilling our need for touch, stoking a loving animal can rapidly calm and soothe when we are stressed, ease loneliness and depression and boost our moods.
Through this Paws + Connect office visit, the therapeutic value of playing with puppies was realised, while raising funds so that the AWLQ can continue to keep its promise to never euthanise a healthy, sociable or treatable animal in its care.
Various departments were allocated one-on-one puppy playtime, and a large box overflowing with dog food and tasty treats was also donated to the charity.
Will's Fundraiser
Destiny Rescue
Last month, SAA staff member William Dowell, set about raising funds for Destiny Rescue, a charity organisation committed to rescuing, restoring and protecting innocent children.
Destiny Rescue Fundraising Challenge Achieved – Congratulations Will!
After growing his beard for more than two years, it took less than two weeks for Will to reach his $5,000 target and make good on his promise – to shave it off!
Introducing the newly transformed (but still just as handsome) Will, who has raised over $5,300 thus far – for Destiny Rescue.
Despite surpassing his goal, Will’s Fundraising Page will remain open for a few more weeks – and any further donations would be most welcome!
Enormous and heartfelt thanks to ALL those who have already supported so generously – in helping to rewrite the destinies of so many deserving children in need.
10 Cent Tom
9News speaks with SAA’s Social Responsibility Manager, Louise.
9News recently chatted to our Social Responsibility Manager, Louise, regarding SAA’s support of 10 Cent Tom. As a business, we are focussed on driving positive impact and building better, greener futures. We want to see Tom Pirie succeed in finding a suitable site, and realise his dream of opening the doors to his very own recycling depot. The world is a better place with 10 Cent Change-Makers like Tom in it, looking to employ people with disabilities, and helping to create a cleaner, kinder world for future generations to inherit. We hope that our donation will help inspire other businesses and community innovators, to support 10 Cent Tom’s worthy vision. The FUTURE depends on what we do, TODAY!

Helping kids learn essential life skills
Horse Whispering Youth Program
During times of significant stress, having access to quality financial advice is a great source of comfort. As financial advisers, it is our privilege to help people every day. But when the problems go beyond financial pressures and impact children, equine assisted learning like the Horse Whispering Youth Program, are really important.
Superannuation Advice Australia recognises the invaluable work of the HWYP in supporting at risk youths, teetering on the edge of the criminal justice system, and the growing number of young people coming from disadvantaged or dysfunctional home environments. To ensure the program can continue to keep its doors open and offer essential youth support services, we will be raising funds and adopting Larry, a beloved therapy pony. SAA is challenging like-minded businesses (or any private individuals) to also step forward and adopt a HWYP horse. And in so doing, help more young people at risk of anxiety, aggression and depression – develop healthier emotional control, communication skills, behaviours and positive self-esteem.
Co-founder Gladys caught up with Juice 107.3 to discuss how SAA are helping HWYP. Listen here.
Supporting Bravehearts
Major Sponsor White Balloon Day 2021
9News visited Superannuation Advice Australia today, capturing some wonderful footage of the SAA team raising funds and awareness for Bravehearts and their ongoing efforts to protect Australian children, as well as provide support to victims of child sexual abuse.
The SAA offices were transformed into a Giving Day donation hub. SAA Advisers and Support staff donned their white (and purple) shirts and donated their time to help raise critical funds needed for this year’s White Balloon Day.
As major sponsors of Bravehearts’ White Balloon Day, SAA matched all donations dollar-for-dollar, so every contribution created double the impact.
Supporting CBM Australia
Making Miracles
According to Morgan Freeman, if you want to see a miracle, be the miracle. Superannuation Advice Australia was able to do just that when we supported Miracles Day, earlier this month. Committed to building better futures and breaking the cycle of disability and poverty, we raised funds for people going needlessly blind from cataracts, in some of the poorest places on earth.
Thanks to the generous donations of SAA and its employees, we created Miracles and raised enough funds for 100 sight-saving surgeries that will transform more than 100 lives forever.
Fundraising
Rosies: Friends on the Street
The team at SAA raised four thousand dollars for specialised sleeping bags and donations towards Woolworths Gift Cards in aid of Rosies.
Rosies reaches out to those most in need, people who are homeless or at risk, lonely, and socially isolated within our communities. The charity focuses on providing friendship and unconditional acceptance during difficult times. Over 98% of their work is funded through kind donations from the local public. For better futures, we acknowledge and thank our clients for helping us support Rosies in their mission, and making a positive difference in the community.
Supporting White Balloon Day 2021
Proud Partners
For a second year running, we are proud to be the official naming and major partner to Bravehearts’ White Balloon Day 2021.
As Australia’s largest and longest-running campaign dedicated to preventing child sexual assault and exploitation, the decision was an easy one in our commitment to building better futures, together.
Project Yumi
A Thank You From Founder, Renee Mero!
Thank you for your kind words, Renee. The SAA team is extremely happy to have been able to raise funds, collect stationery and clothing donations for Project Yumi. Renee created Project Yumi 5 years ago when she was saddened at the scarce resources the students had when she visited her husband’s village in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Project Yumi aims to supply resources and healthcare centres in PNG. We’re so glad we were able to help such an important cause. In light of this, Juicey News did a lovely telephone interview with Project Yumi. Find out more below.
We've partnered with Project Yumi
Pledge Partner
We have recently joined hands with Project Yumi, an Australian registered charity establishing effective partnerships with local communities in Papua New Guinea. We found a natural fit with Project Yumi in supporting its focus on saving resources from Australian landfills, while simultaneously improving education and healthcare for those living in PNG. The SAA Team has adopted Yanga Elementary School, raising funds, collecting stationery and clothing donations to assist in enhancing the quality of education for these children.
World Blood Donor Week
Blood Donation For A Great Cause!
Our team were proud to be a part of World Blood Donor day! Every drop counts and supports our medical heroes in saving the lives of fellow Australians. Our team of Super Supporters jumped aboard a mini bus and headed down to our local donation centre to do their bit.
We've partnered with Envirobank
Pledge Partner
Through its partnership with Envirobank, Superannuation Advice Australia is raising much needed funds for Bravehearts. Every donated container raises 10¢ for Bravehearts to prevent child sexual assault and exploitation. An indigenous-owned recycling company, Envirobank is passionate about cleaning up the country and saving bottles and cans from ending up in our waterways and landfills, and so are we!
FOR BETTER FUTURES
CEO Sleepout
Every night, thousands of Australians experience homelessness. At Superannuation Advice Australia, we are collectively raising awareness and funds for vulnerable Australians in need. As part of our efforts, SAA Director, Peter Kuskie, took part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout. Peter slept out in the open to highlight the many harsh realities of homelessness.
FUNDRAISING
Domestic Violence
Prevention Month
In support of Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month (May), Superannuation Advice Australia management and staff raised funds for the Domestic Violence Prevention Centre (DVPC). The DVPC Discretionary Account received a much-needed boost through SAA’s generous donations. Funds raised have been earmarked for a deserving recipient, to whom these monies will make a significant impact in improving her, and her children’s lives.
For Better Futures, we acknowledge and thank our clients for helping us make a positive difference in the community.
CHRISTMAS APPEAL
Be An Elf
This festive season, the SAA team have rallied together to support the ‘Be An Elf’ Christmas appeal, donating hundreds of gifts to children in need across South East Queensland. Be An Elf aims to help disadvantaged children and teens by asking them to write a wish-list letter to Santa, which is then fulfilled by their generous donors. We’re proud to have contributed to this amazing cause this festive season.
COFFEE FUNDRAISER
Supporting Varsity Against Violence
In support of the Varsity Against Violence #standtogethercoffeetogether campaign, the team at SAA raised over $5000 in support of this vital cause to raise funds, education, and awareness around domestic violence and its prevention in collaboration with Finance Industries Australia. PROUDLY SUPPORTING
Bravehearts White
Balloon Day
Bravehearts is Australia’s leading child protection organisation and the only charity in the country dedicated to holistically preventing child sexual assault and exploitation. Superannuation Advice Australia is proud to be the named partners of the 2020 White Balloon day. We’re excited to be working alongside a phenomenal cause and look forward to knocking our fundraising goals out of the park!
A Community 'Thank You'
Superfood for Superheroes
In April and May 2020, we were extremely excited to join forces with an award-winning catering company to found a not-for-profit initiative, focused on delivering messages of thanks from our community to frontline workers actively fighting COVID-19.
The mission of our ‘Superfood for Superheroes’ initiative was to facilitate the delivery of gourmet ‘Thank You’ packages to as many frontline workers as possible. We kicked things off with Super Advice Australia’s very own thank you message being distributed to hundreds of workers up and down the Gold Coast – across all eight of the ‘Gold Coast Health’ trusts’ hospitals and medical centres, including the Gold Coast Hospital.
We had the wheels on the ‘Superfood for Superheroes’ delivery van in motion around the clock feeding frontline workers, all the while acting as a mobile reminder of the work being done by our selfless front line.
DREAM BIGGER
Superannuation Advice Australia
Community Fund
We recognise that in creating a better financial future for our clients, we can also create a better future for our communities across Australia. That’s why we’ve launched the Superannuation Advice Australia Community Fund. The fund has been setup to support local charities, community projects and to give back to the community at large. To date we’ve donated to those close to our clients hearts:
